My Research Question is :-
"Whether ERP Implementation can help SMEs in their Business Expansion"
Small and Medium Enterprise or Small and Medium-sized Enterprise (SMEs) are companies whose personnel numbers fall below certain limits. SMEs are a very heterogeneous group of businesses usually operating in the service, trade, agri-business, and manufacturing sectors and include a wide variety of firms.SMEs are often classified by the number of employee’s, value of assets, sales and investment. The size classification varies within regions and across countries relative to the size of the economy and its endowments.
SMEs play a crucial role in the economic and social development of an economy, in particular the emerging markets. SMEs contribute to economic development in various ways by creating employment for growing rural and urban labor force, generating income for low income people. They foster economic growth, social stability, contribute to the development of a dynamic private sector and provide desirable sustainability and innovation in the economy as a whole.
The overall contribution of SME sector to the
GDP ranges from 20% to 80% depending upon the unique growth trajectory followed
by the different markets. This clearly shows that SMEs play a very major role in the Economic Growth of a country. Thus it is very important to expand the SME business in order to foster the growth.

One
possible way of achieving it could be IMPLEMENTATION OF ERP in SMEs. Enterprise Resource Planning ( ERP ) systems integrate internal and external management information across an entire organization, embracing finance, accounting, manufacturing, sales and service, customer relationship management, etc. ERP Systems automate this activity with an integrated software application. The purpose of ERP is to facilitate the flow of information between all business functions inside the boundaries of the organization and manage the connections to outside stakeholders.
Now will it be fruitful to implement it in Small and Medium Enterprise, will it be cost-effective to implement ERP in SMEs and will it help in the business expansion of SMEs will be my area of research.
